Chad Hawkins is a lifelong Republican, a dedicated law enforcement officer, and a public servant who has spent more than 30 years protecting and serving the people of Gaston County. Born and raised in Gaston County, Chad understands the values, concerns, and priorities of the hardworking citizens he is proud to call his neighbors. His life story—from overcoming hardship as a child to rising through the ranks of law enforcement—has shaped his unwavering commitment to safety, law and order, and conservative leadership.
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
TO DEDICATED SERVICE.
Chad knows what it means to face adversity and overcome challenges. As a child, he experienced homelessness, living in a tent for nine months with his family. That experience instilled in him a deep appreciation for hard work, resilience, and the importance of community. He never forgot where he came from, and it fueled his passion for serving and protecting others.

Lowell City Council Member (2001-2013)
Volunteer Firefighter in McAdenville/Cramerton

Gaston College
Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Gaston College
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University
Master's Degree in Justice Administration from Methodist University
His leadership in multiple law enforcement agencies, combined with his time as an elected official, gives him the experience and firsthand knowledge necessary to lead
as Gaston County Sheriff.

Chad Hawkins is a firm believer in law and order, the Second Amendment, and the rights of law-abiding citizens. He strongly opposes any efforts to “defund the police” and has vowed to stand with law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day.
